If you suspect someone is suffering from heat exhaustion, which can lead to heat stroke, there are things you can do. First, call for medical help! After calling for help:

Move the person to a cooler or shaded area

   Loosen or remove excess clothes

Lie the person down with their legs elevated

Use any available means to cool the body, like fanning or applying towels soaked in ice water to the skin

Only if you are certain the person is NOT already suffering heat stroke, encourage the person to slowly sip water or other fluids. A person suffering from heat stroke is at risk of inhaling fluids (aspirating) which can be dangerous.
