An appeal is a request by an EWTF participant or beneficiary that the Fund and/or Board of Trustees reconsider the claim and the circumstances under which the initial claim was denied in whole or in part. A participant or beneficiary has the right to provide additional information and to be advised and provided copies of any information used by the Fund in making its previous determination to deny the claim.

A claim for benefits under the EWTF is a request by a participant or beneficiary that certain benefits, which the participant or beneficiary believes are covered under the terms of the Fund, be paid by the EWTF.  Whenever a claim is presented by a participant or a beneficiary, the Fund  provides written notice to the participant or beneficiary telling them whether or not the claim is paid or whether the claim is paid only in part.
