Mental Health Parity Act

Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA)
Effective January 1, 2010 the Plan (EWTF) in accordance with the above law

• will no longer have an inpatient day maximum
• a limit on the number of outpatient visits associated with mental health including substance abuse and chemical dependency, and
• will include mental health and substance abuse/chemical dependency in the Out-of-Pocket Annual Maximum

Pre-notification (pre-certification) is still a requirement for any mental health, substance abuse or chemical dependency treatment. Participants must call Business Health Services, your Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) to initiate the pre-notification process.  The telephone number is (800) 765-EAPS (3277).
